Privacy policy

Effective date: October 24, 2026

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit home.impart.global or buy from us, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

Summary

  • What we collect: your contact and delivery details, your order, limited payment details from our payment provider, your messages to us, and, if you allow it, how you use our site.
  • Why: to take your payment, make and deliver your order, help you, keep the records the law requires, and, only if you agree, to measure our ads and send you marketing emails.
  • Who receives it: the companies that run our store (Shopify), take payments (PayPal), make and ship your print (Printify, its US print shop and the carrier), host our email and order checks, and, only if you accept those cookies, Google.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • How long: order records for 7 years, because South African law requires it. Other information for shorter periods, set out below.

We decide how and why your personal information is used. Under POPIA we are the "responsible party". POPIA applies to us because we are based in South Africa, wherever our customers live.

Information Officer: Liam Pitcher, support@impart.global

Your marketing choice To send marketing emails only if you asked for them Your consent

We do not ask for special personal information, such as health, religious or biometric information, or for government ID numbers.

Information we get from others. Most of this information comes from you. Two kinds come from others: PayPal tells us whether your payment succeeded and shares your name and email address with us, and Printify and the carrier tell us the production, tracking and delivery status of your order.

Do you have to give us this information?

  • To place an order, you must give us your name, email address, shipping address, phone number and billing address. Without them we can't take your payment or deliver your order, so we can't accept the order.
  • Messages to us are up to you. Without enough detail, we may not be able to help.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies are up to you. If you decline them, the store works the same way.
  • Marketing emails are up to you. If you don't sign up, you still get your order and shipping emails.

Laws that require some of this information. South African law requires us to keep accounting records of each sale (section 24 of the Companies Act and section 29 of the Tax Administration Act).

Payments

Payments are handled by PayPal, which processes your payment details under its own privacy statement. We never see or store your full card number.

Who we share it with

We share only what each party needs to do its job.

  • Shopify, which hosts our store and checkout and stores order data for us.
  • PayPal, which processes payments and refunds under its own privacy statement, and the banks and card networks involved in each payment.
  • Printify, our print-on-demand partner, and the print shop in the US that makes your order. They receive your name, shipping address, email address, phone number and the items ordered, so they can print and ship your order. Printify acts as our service provider under its data processing terms.
  • Carriers (such as USPS, FedEx or OnTrac), which receive the name, address and phone number needed to deliver your parcel.
  • Cloudflare, which hosts our order-checking system. Before an order goes to print, the system reads the shipping address to check that it can be delivered. Our records there keep only the result of the check. They don't keep your name or address.
  • GoDaddy, which hosts our support email.
  • Google, for analytics and advertising, only if you accept those cookies.
  • Professional advisers (such as accountants and lawyers), authorities when the law requires it, and a buyer of our business if it is ever sold, who would have to protect your information in the same way.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with other companies for their own marketing, except Google, if you accept advertising cookies.

International transfers

We are based in South Africa. To serve customers in the US, your information is sent to and processed in other countries:

  • United States: Shopify, Printify, the print shop, carriers, Google, Cloudflare and GoDaddy store or process data here.
  • Canada: Shopify's parent company is based here.
  • European Union and United Kingdom: the Shopify company that provides our store, Shopify International Limited, is in Ireland. Printify says its affiliates in other countries, such as Latvia, Poland, Spain and the UK, may access the data it holds.
  • Other countries where Shopify, Google and Cloudflare run data centers.

The level of protection in these countries. Their privacy laws are not the same as POPIA.

  • United States: there is no general national privacy law like POPIA. Protection comes from a mix of federal and state laws, and in most cases it is lower than under POPIA.
  • Canada: there is a national privacy law for businesses (PIPEDA).
  • European Union and United Kingdom: the GDPR and the UK GDPR give protection at least similar to POPIA.

Why we are allowed to send it. POPIA (section 72) allows these transfers on the following grounds:

  • Printify, the print shop and carriers: the transfer is needed to perform our contract with you (to make and deliver your order), or for a contract we have made in your interest with them.
  • Banks and card networks: the transfer is needed to perform our contract with you (to take your payment and make refunds).
  • Shopify, Printify, Cloudflare and GoDaddy: they are bound by data processing terms with us that protect your information in a way substantially similar to POPIA, including rules on passing it on to others.
  • Google analytics and advertising: you consented, by accepting those cookies after our cookie banner told you that the information goes to Google in the United States.

Cookies and your consent

When you first visit our site, a banner asks which cookies you accept. There are three groups:

  • Necessary: always on. They run the store, keep your cart and help prevent fraud.
  • Analytics: off unless you accept them. They show us how visitors use the site.
  • Advertising: off unless you accept them. They let Google measure our ads and show you ads.

Analytics and advertising cookies send information to Google in the United States.

You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.

Tracking across other websites. If you accept advertising cookies, Google may collect information about your activity on our site and on other websites over time, to show you ads. If you decline, these cookies are not set. Shopify may also use information about your visit to provide its services and prevent fraud, under its own privacy policy.

You can also manage Google's ad personalization in your Google account settings.

Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no agreed standard for how websites should respond to it, so our site does not change what it does when it receives one. You can still decline analytics and advertising cookies in our cookie banner.

Marketing emails

We send marketing emails only if you opt in, at checkout or when you sign up. The sign-up box is never ticked for you.

Every marketing email:

  • says that it comes from Impart Home (Impart Productions (Pty) Ltd)
  • gives our postal address: 30 Mountain Road, Cape Town, Western Cape 7708, South Africa
  • has an unsubscribe link

If you unsubscribe, we stop sending you marketing emails within 10 business days. Order and shipping emails are not marketing, so you will still receive them.

We do not send marketing by text message.

How long we keep your information

  • Order, payment and refund records: 7 years, because South African company and tax law require us to keep accounting records.
  • Support emails and claim photos: 2 years after your last message.
  • Marketing list: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only your email address on a "do not contact" list, so we don't email you again.
  • Analytics data: 14 months.
  • Cookies: for the periods shown in Cookie settings.

Printify keeps the order data it holds under its own terms with us.

When a period ends, we delete your information or make it anonymous. Analytics data is deleted automatically. Other records are deleted in a review we carry out at least once a year, so some records may be kept for up to a year after their period ends.

How we protect it

Our site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Our store runs on Shopify, and payments are handled by PayPal, so we never hold full card numbers. We limit access to your information to the people and systems that need it.

If a security breach affects your information, we will tell you and the relevant regulators as the law requires.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you whether we hold personal information about you, give you a copy, and tell you which third parties, or which kinds of third parties, have had access to it
  • correct information that is wrong or incomplete
  • delete your information, where we don't need to keep it by law
  • stop using your information for a purpose you object to, including direct marketing at any time
  • withdraw a consent you gave, such as for cookies or marketing emails

How to make a request. Email support@impart.global with the subject "Privacy request". Tell us what you want us to do.

  • Our PAIA manual explains the formal process and the official South African forms: Form 1 to object to how we use your information, and Form 2 to ask us to correct or delete it. You don't have to use the forms. We also accept requests by email.
  • We may ask you to confirm who you are, usually by replying from the email address used for your order.
  • Someone else can make a request for you if you give them written permission. We will check it with you.
  • We respond within 30 days. We don't charge for this.
  • We won't treat you differently for using any of these rights.

Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, please tell us first. You may also complain to South Africa's Information Regulator:

  • Website: inforegulator.org.za
  • Email for POPIA complaints: POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za
  • General enquiries: enquiries@inforegulator.org.za
  • Phone: +27 10 023 5200
  • Address: Woodmead North Office Park, 54 Maxwell Drive, Woodmead, Johannesburg 2191, South Africa

If you live in the US, you can also contact your state attorney general's consumer protection office.

US state privacy laws

Several US states, including California, have consumer privacy laws. They give residents rights such as access, deletion, correction, and opting out of targeted advertising. Most of these laws apply only to businesses above certain size thresholds, such as annual revenue or the number of residents whose information they handle. We are a small business and are well below those thresholds today, so we do not believe these laws apply to us yet. We will update this policy if that changes.

Whatever state you live in, you can use all the rights described under "Your rights" above, and you can turn off advertising cookies at any time in Cookie settings. The categories of information we collect, why we collect them, who receives them and how long we keep them are set out in the sections above. We do not sell personal information, and we do not collect sensitive personal information.

California residents. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes, except Google, if you accept advertising cookies. You can stop this at any time by turning off advertising cookies in Cookie settings.

Children

You must be 18 or older to buy from us. Our site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will also tell you before it takes effect, by email if we have your address, or by a notice on our site.
